You can olso just use the fluid effects in maya 4.5... that is if you have the unlimited version user added image

sry, I ment fluid effects also. I didn't have Maya near me at the time of my first post, so was just guessing the name.
Live is something else, not sure what it does.

Live takes real footage like a movie and lets you integrate it in maya so your objects look like they are in the real video...

you can also achieve the effect by combining layers of shaders.. I think there are some good tutorials on the net, try searching for those..
