mr stand alone

nNeed mr stand alone ,to render subregions imported .mi,from Maya!
but have problems to understand how it works!
when i type in a ray prompt , an .mi exrension;the wdw closes instantly,& seems to have calculate nothing;where do i have to write the path of the (supposed) rendered image??
Someone could help??
