Well, unless you give one encridibly long and exasting tut for Photoshop, i dont see how you would be able to sleep at night charging money for Photoshop tuts. There are so many out there, you would have to make on hell of a tut to charge money for it, or else people are just goign to keep on useing the other sites.

The same way we sleep quite soundly charging for Maya and Lightwave tuts.

so whats the diffence?

If you supply a service - you can charge for it... look at you - you have a web site where as you try to get people to do sites for -yet there are 40,000 places on the net where you can learn to do a site for FREE

Im sure you get the picture Uggy user added image

Thats different. They may not have the tiem or will to learn how to do it them selfs. And what im saying is that i have been to almost a hundred Photoshop tutorial sites. And im not sure theres much you can offer at SimplyPhotoshop.com that I have not yet found. Mabey a few things, but very little. The only reason i am excited about it is that I can get very specific help on things, from the forum.

Maybe you would like to go to amazon look here and tell the 600 or so people that have written books about photo shop that they wasted there time?

If you can find it all on the net for free why buy the book those authors are obviously stupid don't you think?

Nah photoshop is usefull to know well, alot of people know it well but still dont use ALOT of the functions in it that would make work faster. SPS sounds amasing though, very high potential

That's why I'm hoping the tutorial content is going to be more varied than the typical photoshop site. Going beyond the "let's make an aqua mac button" tutorial, so to speak and getting more into the not so common things.

I love Mike's idea and I do hope someone goes into a tutorial series on digital matte painting, matte imaging (matching shadows, etc) as well as things that most folks probably have never used, such as "calculations" in advanced photo-editing.

In any case, I'm looking forward to checking it out, offering my own ps tips and hopefully learning some things in the process.

There is a huge gap on the net on free tutorials and that is the equivalent of the sort of step by step detailed project guide that SM offers for Maya. A page on creating a plastic button is not really very fascinating.

I have a number of PS books (classroom in a book is great), and I buy the odd magazine which has good tuts in, but I would certainly consider paying for good tutorials on PS just as I have for Maya ones.

There are loads of free tuts for Maya but I have still bought a good few from here. Why is that? Well depending on how you learn, the watch a video, follow along, do your own thing experience of video instruction is better than just reading along. I learnt loads when someone showed me how to make something over netmeeting! There is something about visual learning that makes it easier to pick things up. And if a tut shows you all the techniques you need to do something, you have a finished item at the end and learnt new skills to apply yourself in future.

Like most things it depends what standard you are, perhaps if you are good at PS you would not want to buy a basic tut, but there should be something for everyone, as there is here. Some people don't mind paying to learn things, others think everything should be free. As I don't work for nothing however I don't expect other people to.

Those were just a FEW of the tuts that I was going to tempt Kev with, as matching shadows, (position, color tempuature, etc) the calculations dialog, as well as the TRUE color-matching & grading process (no guessing, actual numbers and techniques), ALL contribute to the compositing and VFX worlduser added image

Can't wait!

I'd pay money for photoshop tuts simply because i learn better from video than text and i think a lot of other people do aswell.
