Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

radomizer/ scatter

Is there a tool like scatter in Max that lets you input paramenters like scale range, placement range, rotational range, and then radomly scatters copies (or instances) of that object for you?

This would be similar to waht you would do with an instanced particle system, but instead of ending up with a particle system, you end up with each object being independant.

Thanks.

There is a randomizer script on highend 3d in the modelling section. It might be able to do what you want. Never used it so you'll need to try it.

a fine oportunity for you to get some scripting practice! user added image I dont think it would be too hard to do.... you would need to duplicate your object within a confined space.... hmm I'll have a think about this one user added image

OK, changed my approach to this problem. Going back to particles. Thanks though.
