A Matte painting would work really good.

I might of missed this but how did you make the Tornadoes, Maya fluids? They look really good and are composited to a near perfection. I would only say that they may kick up a little too much debris at the bottums. but I could be wrong. I've never seen a tornadoe in real life. Although I'm told one jumped over our house once when I was a baby.

Took me quite a while to get the look of the tornados ok. They're basically sprite particles. I made a number of sprite image sequences using fluids to start with.

Regarding the debris... you're propably right... there's too much of it at least on the one in the middle... I haven't ever seen a tornado either except in movies user added image
