Hey steve, I'm glad to be back user added image. Thanks for the great tip, I've heard of the race before but it never came to mind while doing this and I don't know why! Perfect reference, It's given me some great ideas for camera positions in the animation too.

Cheers,

Jamie

Good day all,

I know its been quite a while since I last posted but I assure you all, this project isn't dead!

I've been waiting for renders over the past few days (a full 7 days rendering). what I'm showing here is version 0.6 of the final passes as they've been rendered (I'm still waiting on renders for the film set)

Still have these things to work on:

- Render all the passes for the film set (Camera is animated but not in Ver 0.6)

- Fine tune the switch between film set and road set

- Sort out reflection in both sets for the paint material

- colour correct and grade final shots

So here is version 0.6 of the animation:

I've also decided to show my shake tree (my compositing application of choice):
SHAKE TREE 1 - Road set only

SHAKE TREE 2 - Road set & Film set combined

And finally here is the animation for anyone who would like to see it all in motion. Its highly compressed and half the final resolution (final resolution will be DVD res).

Audi R8 Ver 0.6 Animation (14mb) quicktime
NOTE: you might want to right click and "save target as" because the file isn't set to stream. Also, appologies I have a (cheap) slow web host.

If anyone has any questions regarding the setup let me know user added image

Comments and Crit always welcome!

Cheers for now

Jamie.

Hey Man

Glad to see your still working on this.

Looks good, if feel the lighting could do with a bit of a tweek as it seems a little washed out at the mo and not giving enough contrast, for me anyway!

Cheers

Steve

Wow, that’s really good!

I’d have to agree with you, you should make that curtain come over faster (it would also save you time on the render user added image ).

The only thing that looked a little odd to me is the way the car pulls away, and this is only if I am being really over critical. Other than that all I can say is perfect. Like the others I cannot wait to see the final.

Keep up the great work.

Maybe if the car gave a little squat on the backend as it moved off instead of looking so firm it'd help.
