Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

grass was done in paint effects, well the long grass is, and the grass on the nurbs plain is a shader network.

P.S. Composition is great, nearly photorealistic. I had to look twice

Thanks that's a real compliment for me!!! user added image

Retro Style

For a more realistic sepia-tone image add noise to the image....in Photoshop to be found under *translate*..Filters-> Noise-> Add Noise (Monochrome).... and maybe the stone in Front needs some tweaking....and how 'bout DOF ?

A Blurry Front (Hides some texturing failures of the stone),and a sharp background ??

Only Suggestions......looks great !!

Yeah of course I dont mind. user added image For my taste there is too much grain on the image but I see what you're trying to show. Unfortunatley I'm going to have to probably leave it for now as I am snowed under with stuff to do and this was only supposed to be a quick project to tide me over until my next coursework. I mite play around in photoshop later and see what I can do.

How the hell did you do the telephones wires and tension cables anyway? Are the NURBS curves rendered as lines? I haven't got a clue how to do these...user added image

Yeah I know I said in my reply to that one that it's a deliberate "mistake". The tower is old and decrepid and probably about to fall over so it's quite possible that it would have loose cables. But again I take you point :banana

The wires were done using Undseth's excellent comments in the "How you did it" section: https://forum.simplymaya.com/member.p...fo&userid=1281

Have a look at that link and that will show you how to do them user added image

re water tower..

Hi Alan,

Try maybe rendering in layers and compositing them back togother in a compositing program, ie. (shake, after effects, Maya fusion) and use the z depth channel to do depth of field in post also.

I also do heaps of colour correction in post as I can tweek the colours/shadows in real time to my liking.

Again, as others have said, great stuff!!!!!
