Complex UV Layout in Maya
Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

Looks really cool!
No more canadian flag? Aw... user added image

One thing that's sort of distracting, doesn't really work for me (from a newbie eye, mind you) is the cable that passes behind him, as it intersects with a number of things (the listening device, the neon lights) where it ends, so it's hard to make out what it connects to... just a thought.

Put the canadain flag back in lol... as far as the wire it went to a poll on the courner, Here is a render with out out.. Fixed the weird wrinkle in the pant leg also tweaked the shoulder shape.

Toned down the stars a bit as well.

Hey Kurt,
Looks really good my only comment is the moon is still too detailed and bright it really draws your attention away from the character. Also the walls are too hard edged add a little more detail in there.

Keep up the good work

Tom

agreed about the walls. Disagree about the canadian flag. It jumps right out at you. Looks very product placement-y. The lightings really good to my eye. Well played Kurt.

Amazing! As always user added image
The only thing I have to criticize is the cords... it's a bit confusing trying to figure out where the end. Maybe try some knots?

When in doubt, delete history and freeze transformations.

it looks nicer,
looks like the neon sign is shining on him but not the rest of the buildings though

that's a "Ch" pronounced as a "K"

A thought I keep having when I look at this. Under his chin, I half think about whether there should be a shadow there. The more I think about it while I look at it, it seems that his head has a super imposed quality over his torso. Because of the moon being directly behind him, would this not cast a shadow there? under his chin?

How many lights have you got in this scene Kurt? It is brilliant I think, particularly for the lighting.

12 lights in all 4 mains ones and the rest are light linked just the moon and other geo.

the buildings have a bit of pink in them from the sign but is not a reflective material.

Still needs more work still have a month to work on it..
