Beer glass scene creation
This course contains a little bit of everything with modeling, UVing, texturing and dynamics in Maya, as well as compositing multilayered EXR's in Photoshop.

Disable didnt work mate....yeh I get the Nvidia from their site not through Acer. I have uninstalled anything Adobe, they are less frequent lock ups but today for instance it locked up 6 times. I tried to do a register clean with N360 (didnt know it even had that tool) and the lappy locked up before it could even finish. I have done the repair through Command Prompt and a LODCTR/R as well, still no joy. I did the counter thing as it was an error in the event log....

This does not sound good. Do you get the same behaviour when you switch back to your old hard drive?

You introduced two new things in your setup. You switched to SSD and changed from XP to Win7. I can see that you are already on the latest BIOS version.
Possible routes to attempt if possible:
a. Go back to an old fashioned HDD. Not possible in your case. I assume that you have added it as your new primary drive. Check that you have the latest SATA & AHCI drivers. What is the impact of the one BIOS setting where you choose between SATA or IDE?
b. Go back to XP if possible. I know it is no longer supported but it might be the difference between a stable system or an unstable one.
c. Format and load everything from fresh leaving Adobe for last and taking note when the system becomes unstable. I.e. it might be possible that Maya is stable on a clean system without Adobe loaded or it could be that it gives hassles even on a clean system.
d. Go against logic, try the older versions of the display drivers.
More drastic approaches:
e. I can see that your graphics card is integrated. Possible to change it?

OK Pix
A: no the old HDD is gone...and I am not sure (I assume) he changed the mobo to suit the SSD? I will have a look at the BIOS tonight and get an image for you.

B: I no longer have the XP as my lappy never came with a disc..LOL though I still think I have the sticker for it somewhere...hmmmmm.

C: Im leaving the formatting for the last resort mate....I have partition into 3 drives with C holding the OS and the other 2 having all my data (personal, work etc). Now I cannot reformat just C: ???? can I without losing D and E?

D: I havent tried that yet but did it frequently on my other HDD as I had great trouble with Nvidia and Maya...will give that a shot.

E: I dont think I can change it mate...being a laptop Im scared it will just melt...and can I in any case?

NOw to let you get an update, I cannot do any clean Register....with N360, Malwaremalbytes froze it up too and it froze randomly 5 times in 20 mins last night with no apps running apart from Skype...hard reset everytime with all of this too. Im going to run Malware in safe mode now and see what happens, get back to you.

Thank you so much for your time and help mate, much appreciated.

Ok Pix...it wont start in IDE...gives me a BSOD and asks me to repair disk. I switched back to SATA. SSD drivers are up to date as is the Intel processor...GC Nvidia is up to date. I did a malware and virus scan in safe mode, no freezes. I cant use N360 reg cleaner in safe mode, though I dont think that will make a difference. I will reboot in 8 hours when I retire for the night and leave the laptop in safe mode, see if it locks up overnight like it usually does...keep you posted mate.

You can reformat the C partition without affecting the other two partitions. Just to be on the safe side, I'll take a backup of D and E.

That is good news. It means that the core operating system is sound. One or or more of the non-essential processes and or services loaded in normal mode is causing your grief. Take a snapshot of all the processes running in safe mode and compare it to those running in normal mode. In task manager just select the option to show processes of all users. Once we have that list then we can do some more research as to the origin, function and necessity of each.
A fresh reload of the system is beginning to sound like a viable option. That usually gets rid of all those extras which one accumulate over time.

Will do mate, here is a weird thing (fingers crossed) I rolled back the driver to the original OEM spec for my GC. I have just completed a registry clean through N360) with NO lockups? this is getting more bizzare by the moment. I will still snapshot and post my friend, again thank you so kindly for your assistance and everyone else who has had a comment.

Can you do the same process but with the "Show processes from all users" selected?

Give me a couple of days to sift thru this. In the meantime. Is it possible to uninstall your tablet software? Any success with the old driver?
