Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

working on the head, and then an arm, and then a bit of the ankle, etc etc, is not how I work and not how I have seen people work before. It might be right for you which is cool but thought I would throw it out there.

I work sort of in the middle. I block out an area get the size right then add the detail to that section. I don't know why but its how I work on hard surfaces, with characters I build the whole thing and then tweak. The problem with this guy, is he is not out until Christmas and there for not a lot of ref out there. And then what is out there are via promo shots of him in silly poses or very small Rez images. I have tried to set up cameras to match them but as they are so low Rez when you zoom in to work on an area it's way to blurred. This section was hard because its coved on 3 different sides and having to look at all the images to figure out where the bits and bobs started and ended.
Don't think it be half as bad if I had the thing in my hands, but at a retail per order price of £550 don't think that's going to happen any time soon hehehe

How you made the Holes did you use booleans for them? if yes then how you clean geometry after that.
