the best answer has already been said. Use the ring you have and then select all of the outer faces that are flat. Then project a cylindrical map onto those faces and bring in a greyscale image of the letters in photoshop using white for the raised bits and black for the non raised bits, use this image as a displacement map for the ring. Then use a gold shader for the ring itself. It's relatively simple.
