Complex UV Layout in Maya
Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

Jaw line definitely improved, but you seem to have lost the lip definition and shape =P we'll see in the front and side views when you post them =)

And trust meh i KNOW how hard it is to do organic stuff but it's my primary job so i get lots of pratice and have really come a LONG ways since i first started modeling a few years ago =P

keep up the good work btw nice to see your progress =D

one tip for future ref... start in polys and follow the natural shapes and lines of your reference images and if you dont use them well START doing it O_o i know it's a bitch to align front and side view of images but in the end its all worth it IMO.

Hey Gurl,

I'm working on a rather large update (torso...reference pictures from 3d.sk). Can you reply/up one of your characters? You also say that you sort of do organic stuff for a living, are you allowed to say where?

Matt

Ok, here is an update. I've been working on the torso a little and her breast (which was harder than I thought). I still have not merged the head and torso. I'll probably be moving on to the hands next, which is usually the most difficult part for me.

Looks great, but the nose definately looks too big.

Also about the "what a woman looks like" thing said by 3DGurl, even though that may be true in a "Perfect Woman" (hah!) case, all woman are different, some women have male features, some have really affeminate features.

Your right about the nose being too big, I'll have to fix that one tomorrow. I also think your right about some women having male features....there's plenty of them around.user added image

I agree, however their position was established from the reference photo. I may give her a lift, however I'm mainly trying to focus on her hands nowuser added image

Nice improvements over time. I really liked the way the hair flows around the back of the skull. Overall poly count looks good. Are you gonna switch over to sub ds? Keep up the nice work.
