Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character
Yeah I am gonna texture the lot, not just the bits seen, but Im not overly fussed about genitalia being done or nipples etc as its not what Im after with this character. I'll most likely do those bits just to add a textured nude character to my reel, nothing else.
Ive got three version of this girl in mind (which I cant say right now, all hush hush) but 'plumbing' etc wont be seen in any final versions, so sorry to disappoint anyone reading
maybe i can model a human ..of course wont look near as good or half as good as yours but I will give her 4 boobs and i bet mine will be as popular as yours ... ahha
but serious love your work ... love the progress ... cant wait to see finish product
I was wondering Jay. Is there anyway to paint over seams in maya? Or any tricks to hiding it?
I was thinking about offsets in Photoshop, how you can paint offsets to make patterns. Would that work with polygons if we just applied it as a shader, instead of painting in on the uvmaps?
Not quite sure what you mean with the shader. You can do it in PS by painfully going to the last 2 pixel rows and painting a solid color
but If you buy the DVD for GI texturing which I did for SM, it will tell all that Maya can do with seams. If not PM me and I may let you into secret of a well hidden tool that seems (pun not intended) to go un- noticed alot
Been feeling real crap of late, have had my head opened up prodded at then stitched up again at the docs, its been quite eventful really.
less woe have an update, added the lashes and brows this evening, going to add a little more detail around the eyes and a bit of color to the ears, onto the body next...
Thanks guys, gonna try and push this forward now...The lashes are poly. I have an old tute I stumbled on at home which I got from Alias's site a few years back. Its really very good. You use animation and a mel script to generate them from a poly cylinder. It saves hassles of fur hair and PFX, and you dont have to worry about what type of renderer to use.
I'll have a look at Alias/Autodesks site to see if its still around...
Oh my head...bit of a scare with a lump under the scalp about a half a cm down, thought it may be something very nasty, fortunately it was a ruptured gland/folicle, so have a 2 inch scar and a few stitches etc and a pain in the head at the moment.
