Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

Okey Dokey...

This is the model all smoothed out ready for the rest. Poly Count is 27066, still some to spare for that cannon :attn:

I wouldn't smooth it. I'd use the polys available to actually create the model's details. I've never smoothed a game mesh in my career, and don't know anyone who has so far.

Kinda took that the wrong way. I haven't done a smooth operation as such, but I have converted from Poly to Sub-D back to poly again.

Attempting to get a more dense poly geometry...

Ah, I see. Well, one thing to keep in mind is that for game art, you want every poly you use to be there for a reason. If the model would look exactly the same with or without a face, then the face doesn't need to be there and can be used somewhere else to define more details.

sorry not posted b4 but i have had alot off work to do and then my own challange aswell, but have been watching this 1.

lookin good apart from the mid section or the front section can`t really tell.

I think the midsection is too long, but it may be the front secion too short. The scales look off to me.

Man maxium respect with the speed you got this done and as i said b4 looking good, just that 1 part throws it off for me.

Thx all for your gr8 comments...

The car is really just a concept car, and the design is based on a rear engined car (simlar to Ferrari or Lamborgini). I have kept the nose short and left the mid section quite long to give more window area so its easire to drive.

Imagine the car is about the height of a 4 yrd old boy (about 3 ft) and it only has 2 seats mounted. Here is a render of the cabin without the body, maybe that will give a better perspective.
