Complex UV Layout in Maya
Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

Cheers Legolas_hv, Perfecto! user added image

My appologies for the lack of updates, will have some soon. About the renders instead of wireframes; I try to do something different for every comp, and the renders i'm posting just give the subject a little mood thats all. There is really nothing special about them. The final render will look quite a bit different, as most of my final renders usually do.

I will start posting wire frames on the next update.

Cheers again guys! user added image

Update, Finially...

Finnished the pelvis for the most part. I still have a little more to do on it. The rib cage and backbone are all one picece. I still have to thicken the ribs a bit. Very fustrating and time consuming parts to sew together, but the pelvis has proven the most difficult so far.

Nice to see your updates!
mm this is quite cool but don't you think the collar bone is too much straight?

About that collar bone, yeah, it's too straight. Next update it will have it arching a little on the ends. Still, theres going to be a lot of work to do on it when he is all together. Whew, I'm glad the deadline has been pushed back.user added image

I know you're not going for realism, but I think you should thicken up those bits, the ribs and collar bones are so thin he'd break in an instant.
UNLESS his bones were made of rubber... are they?

It's looking nice, watch the size of the pelvis and try to add in a bit more detail. Also, be sure to add in the curve of the spine before you go too far.

keep it up, man

Yeah, the ribs, and collar bone are a bit too thin. I mentioned the ribs being too thin a couple of posts back, but thanks for the reminder on the collar bone!I also need to shrink the rib cage just a little to better match the pelvis.

I will be using a lattice on the spine to give it the curve it needs; and actually, I have allready been messing with the lattice a bit, and it works out nicely on the spine. Right now I'm leaving it straight till I have all the body parts modeled.

I still have the leg sockets to model on the pelvis for the thigh bones, and I have the shoulder blades to model aswell.

Hope to have more updates later today.

Thanks for the C&C FunkyB, It's always welcome! user added image

Thx

I like what Im seeing here so far. I do have a small crit, add some randomness to the teeth and skull, to bring the character out a bit more, other wise its going good, get those clothes done!!

Cheers
Jay

The teeth currently in the skull are just temp ( they look bad ), and I still have some work to do on the skull. As far as randomeness in concerned, I plan on giving it some.

I'm still deciding on what kind of wardrobe to model for him. He is going to have boots for shure, and I'm not shure about what kind of hat, or mabe I should put a bandana on him instead.

Cheers for the C&C!user added image

Small update..

Modeled thigh bones and sockets on the pelvis for the thighs, and got some curves on the collar bones. Currently working on the shoulder blades.

Update..

Did more work on the collar bone to better fit with the shoulder blades that still don't look good enough to show directly. They are in the pic but are still in Wip mode. I also made the upper arm bones.

Used some different light for this render also.
