Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

"Did a displacement filter..."

You used displacement for the letters and logo instead of bump?

Is that really needed?

No, a filter on the rust only, the letters look that way because I change from a lambert to a blinn what is why I said I will put a spec map on them...........dave

The only seam I can detect is across the front, but it's just impossible to attach the top in the uv layout without getting distortion and even then you can only attach it from one side. You would till have a seam across the front.

I am not a texture guy and have not worked in production so I am not sure what the proper solution is short of using a paint program to paint across the seams.

In the back the sharp edge is from the shadow of the handle, you may want to soften the shadows a bit.

Just match them as best you can there are aways going to be seams I think the filter knock the out of alignment, I would use maya but I do not think my graphics card is up to it.......dave

I had seams along the top and around the spout though I dont think you can notice them in mine....and around the back near the handles....you would have to match the UV's I think a little closer than they are is all.
