This course will look at the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. We'll look at what makes a good model in Maya and why objects are modeled in the way they are.
Going through all my ref photos it turns out I missed a lot of details from the hand area (mostly because I was looking at my crap little model) so spent the morning adding the missing parts.
Out of all the arms this is the only part that are the same on both sides. This is hard model as there is very little to mirror, but still finding it fun

Cracked on with this tonight with only the hand of the lower right arm to do (well say hand - more like welding kit). Was hoping to get it done tonight but brain shutting down - time for sleep.
Just noticed 2000 posts - Another mile stone this month - crazy - 10 years since I reg "Ravage3d.com" as a company, 9 years since joining Simplymaya and now this.

But after getting some sleep I have noticed I have gotten so much of the lower arm wrong. Was modelling parts from the wrong arm. Its all good though - can use those bits later on
Wow this is looking really good! Are you using mesh smooth just beveling or MR Aproximation when creating this? Would also be really cool to see some highres wires if you have the time!
Yer its just bevels and mesh smooth. Only a basic shader on there for now.
Here are some wires, just one`s I have taken while I been going along.
Again right click and view image for full rez.
Lots of cleaning up outliner, some small edits and some scale corrections today. Really had a day off to re coup my brain (Watched a load of "Breaking Bad" and finally got in to Tale Tales "Walking Dead" series on the 360).

Went with the hand instead of the gun. This has taken ages mostly getting the scales of everything right. Not 100% on the things on the bottom of the fist - might re do them but once I get the gun done.
Well I finally finished the arms (apart from the cables and ammo belt - both of which I`ll do once the whole thing is finished). Now its time for the hardest part - The chest area - Been dreading this part since I started the project.
