Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character
Got some lowerlegs on him now. I probably won't model feet for him since he will be wearing boots unless you folks want me to model feet for him. Next up are the lower arms and hands.
Cheers for the C&C Jay! I'm glad you agree with me on the feet. About the Spec and Bump, they will be adjusted rest assured. Sorry about the lack of updates, been searching out the wardrobe he's going to wear, and how to quickly model it.
Finnished the skeleton for the most part. Still have some work on the rib cage; making the ribs thicker, and curving the spine. Still have a little bit of work to do on the skull including the teeth.
Anyway, managed to get boots on him; however, they are still a bit rough. Next up is his jacket, and hat. He starting to look the part now.
Cheers Arran! I haven't dropped out of this comp by any means.
Yeah, just having boots on still doesn't put him in character. Once I have his hat and jacket on, he will look the part. I'm also considering putting pants on him but I don't think i will have the time, but I'm going to try.
Have a hat on him now. Very hard to find decent reffernces. Had to use 3 refferences to get it looking right, and while the modeling wasn't that hard, it was kind of challenging trying to match it with the refferences as close as I could. The jacket will be alot easier I hope.
yeah - good job mate - think the boots could do with a bit of variation in the texture - just to give them a bit of a worn in feeling if you know what I mean. Also maybe darken his eye sockets a bit.
you've really pulled this together THX1138. Well done!
