Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

Nice work. First time I flew in one, Igot thrown back 10 feet into a rice paddy when it landed from all the wind it kicked up. Look forward to more progess.

perhaps you could use the mental ray shaders

looks pretty good. the yellow on the tips of the rotors look like you just painted it on with a brush tool
if that's photoshop you used you could use the paths to make a straighter line.

that's a "Ch" pronounced as a "K"

Sweet, thanks chirone
I'll maya help the maya shaders... I was trying to weather the edges of the yellow paint in photoshop, but it wasn't looking right and just made it look wonky. :attn: Good to finally see some progress

looking much better. Are the blades straight or are then hanging down some? When chinooks are sitting on the ground their blades droop down pretty good.

The straighter paint line on the yellow looks much better too.

maybe paint the yellow line straight but use color dodge to add wear and tear to the yellow color.

Perfecto... yep your right, i was going to wait until animation till i gave them some droopiness.
mtnhome3d... I tried adding some scratch marks. don't know if it works... so will try the color dodge

Im blind from this model and don't know if its looking accurate anymore. Since i haven't heard anything i went along and animated it using the look of kbrowns apache animation. I've also started the rendering as-well, so i hope that the animations up to standard!
Heres a play-blast...
