No not like that at all. What would make a good picture is one of my HT Room and the other of my backyard, you would then understand where the money was spent! user added image

Wow BMS, you have a really nice home theater room! I was under the impression you had an actual film setup. I wasn't expecting a hometheater front projector. I now fully see your intrest in my commercial projector project, but on the flip side, I wish I had a home theater front projection system. I'm still holding off until HD home video. Right know I just have a 62" inch rear projection TV. Most all my cash was spent on my sound system ( processor/ amp/ speakers ect... ).

I agree but its not just the fact that I have the HT. I think its like you said "not often that people get to see a modern day commercial theater projector" yet we've all been to the movies.

I still remember the first time I saw the photo of Christie . . I had no idea what it was and why it was leaning forward user added image

The down side to having the HT is movies like The Matrix and Star Wars etc, I've had to wait till they come out on DVD, because its so much more enjoyable to watch at home. We still go to the movies but only for our 6 year old.

BTW: The most expensive single item in the room are the recliners.

Cheers
Paul

Update

Holidays really suck when your in the theater bizz. I'm not getting time off for much of anything. I was hoping to have alot more done by now. Probably could have had it finnished allready to. I will probably be modeling on this right up until the deadline.

This update shows a bit of the front part of the projector.

Great to see you've done some more on it. I was actually going to post on this thread to see how you were going user added image

Thanks for the reply mayafreak3, glad you like the progress. Sorry for the lack of progress pics. These past few weeks at my theater have been too busy for me to sit down for some serious progress. The big King Kong opening weekend has me working 15 hour shifts, and when I get home, all I want to do is crash. I will have some progress pics in a few days after I get some rest from these long work shifts.

Finially decided to show a render of my work in progress. I have added alot more since I made this, and the letter texturing needs more work since it's not showing very well. Lighting is almost final concept.

Here is a link to another website to see it better. linkage

Thanks Vim and magicsy. The pic looks alot better in photoshop, the way I reccomend anyone seeing it.

About the bump mapping. I probably wont do it. The bump on the real deal is so fine and small, it's really impossible to duplicate with photoshop filters. I would have to make insane sized bump maps to even come close to the real thing, and I don't have a digital camera to take pics of the real thing.

Over all the lighting has been the biggest challenge for me on this project. Now if I can just get the model finnished on time.
