Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character
Using my imagination I would say that the sword is enchanted with the skeletal remains of some creature which takes care of the blade so as you are never without it. Just picture picking up the sword and the legs folding in nicely
Arann you are right , The legs are display stand for the sword .
there are 2 parts the legs and the sword. So the sword is standing on the display stand ( the legs). And he is blended with the sceleton (the head and the spine ) And the spine is more like teeth so it's litrely tearing flesh of his victims.
if it was going to be more than a display model, e.g, an actual weapon then the legs would be in the way. I was just theorising how you could deal with it
This is a really good model, I just read all the way through the posts, nothing I can say that hasen't been said yet
and to clear up how the sword is used, for those of you that seem a bit confused.
The ribs, and legs are one piece. the sword is another piece that sits in the rib and leg stand to hold it up, they're like a cradle for the sword, so the legs and/or ribs wouldn't get in the way if the sword were actually used.
I also think on page 5 (I think) that there was an image showing the sword, then showing it resting in the legs and ribs cradle. Hope that helped clear it up for people.
I still say that this is the most imaginative entry I have seen. I am still dumbfounded by it. You have a great imagination. I see your future projects going far! I will definitely keep an eye on you in the future. keep up the great work!
