This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i
Thanks! Each part (down to the little screws LOL) is a seperate layer and it is 99% polys (apart from a couple of bits which were subd's, notably the rear comfort guard and the things holding the top cover on). Most of it started life as the various basic poly shapes with extrusions, edge bevelling, some booleans etc.
It was modelled against one reference image plane, with the opposite side used as a reference image- I am fortunate enough to have a lot of detailed pics of it, which helps. I have 3 versions saved; one grouped and parented, one with all the pieces seperated (smoothed and unsmoothed duplicates for things like screws and bolts are in that one) and one 'in scene' for testing lighting and texture maps.
I have run out of time to finalise the textures for the deadline as I have to work for rather a lot of hours tommorrow; some textures are therefore placeholders, unfortuntely. So this is the final render for now. It is something I shall finish after the tournament though. Textures are not all painted in place (the only really finished fully painted one (all in PS) is the metal one for the barrel)- sorry about that. But I am fairly pleased with it given the short deadline- good experience and my first high poly weapon.
wow. how many layers did that come out to be? How do you keep track of them all? O.O. eep.
Im still no good at poly modeling in lw... still getting used to it all.
But i prolly have to practice to get better. lately ive been doing mostly spline modeling.

still a good battle. your hcain gun had many possibilities if you had it a little more orginized. If i had made it this far in the competition i prolly would have made a chaingun too
