This course contains a little bit of everything with modeling, UVing, texturing and dynamics in Maya, as well as compositing multilayered EXR's in Photoshop.

Dont know if anyone has posted this yet, but this paragraph was in the modeling specs and so I thought you should here it if you hadnt read it yet.

4) Avoid things that stick out of your model such as long thin swords, fins or long thin spikes since these can become warped during the build process or broken when being removed from the machine. As long as the parts have enough thickness, they will build correctly.

So you might want to give him a real thick sword just for this reason alone.

Keep up the good work.

Allo,

The sword is actually quite thick. I was thinking about making the pose so that the sword was pointing down or resting on the ground. Or, if it is possible making the blade on a seperate part of the model so i can just cut it off and attack it the the arm. (That is 'if' i win)

Here is a shot of the swords thickness

r u sticking with the wired shape base ? the shape of it just looks wrong to me.

i would also say you could add more detail to the base as that rock looks lonely.

as for the character - i have nothing more to add. looks great well done.

What do ya mean about the base? I delibratley made it non cirular because it makes it more interesting. I am not really sure what to put on it aswell. I was thinking rubble like it was part of a battleground...

There is still plenty of time left for this:

Work on a back story for your scene. Such as, there were two war-ing parties on this world far away. Where after centuries of battle between one another a final war takes place. Your creature standing could be like a hero for the one party and he could be standing on the body of a fallen enemy. And so his pose could be one of 2.

1. (Current pose) He just slayed the other parties hero and pointing at their leader saying, you're next.

2. Have him point up to the sky like a champion and have the enemy he is standing on be the ruler of the other party, as if he is declaring victory after all those years.

So my end thought would be to model a completely different character that your character is standing on.

yeah - i definately like the idea of him standing on a fallen enemy - the boulder just wasn't doing it for me. As for the base - I would probably keep it spherical, just because it's the base and you don't really want to draw attention to it, unless it forms part of the scenery, if you know what I mean. Having some rubble and bits and pieces of junk might really fit the scene.

Hello all
I unfortunately i may have to stop this and keep it the way it is. My p.c. is still broken and i have no way of using MAYA.
Hopefully i can get it fixed over the weekend but if not i'll leave it as it is.
Cheers
