I was at my uncles house and he had Maya. I started messing around with it and got addicted. This was about three weeks ago.

Well, Ive always loved the sfx in movies, i went from full time work to uni doing a course to try and get into film/program production or anyting to do with it.

I got into maya because I chose to do it as my final year project for my uni project

The thing that probably inspired me to learn 3D animation was music. From ever since I can remember, whenever I listened to music, I like to think of 'scenes' or 'stories' that go nicely with the music.

I always wanted to show these ideas in someway, by film maybe. But film can never give the same feel (unless your a hotshot cameraman/lighter/director/logistcal person/casting director etc etc all in one. 3D animation packages such as Maya allow you to be all those people at once. Basically, the software does the work for you.

The animation I'm currently working on was inspired by two songs: Alive and Kicking by Simple Minds and Set You Free by N-Trance. I also manged to write an entire film script based on the lyrics to the first song.

Ever since I started doing 3D, that same thing happened to me. I like to think of scenes that go well with music. For example, with that song "One Vision" by Queen, The part that is 2 minutes and 42 seconds into the song makes me think of a cloaked guy on a cliff and the camera slowly zooms in on him, then all of a sudden, he yells and his eyes turn yellow while the camera zooms out quickly and wind blows. It may sound really stupid and cheesy, but it really is what's going trough my head when I hear that part. It's a really good song though user added image

I've heard the song. And it's not cheesey.

When I listen to Indestructible by The Four Tops, I see two people (dressed in martial arts gear) fighting in a field with heavy rain and lightning.

In the song "Samurai Rocket" on the PSP Ridge Racer BGM, the part with the pan flute reminds me of a ninja about to lose a fight with some sort of humanoid demon, but then gains an advantage and wins.
