This course will look at the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. We'll look at what makes a good model in Maya and why objects are modeled in the way they are.

i also finished modeling my fly. I need to work out how to do his hair - they are very hairy! - and also decide how i want to pose him.

This looks really great. I like the wear and tear on the table. Really good attention to detail to the fly. Did you catch one and stare at it lol.

Hey Arran

The workplace render looks great, good work on that man, is it a Mental Ray render?


For the fly it migh be worth looking into maya fur and painting some baldness maps for him. Then again it could be ott, but it would be easier than adding polys and painting maps etc.

AnthonyCg: yeah - my wife found me some - there are a few photos earlier in the thread.

gster123: thanks mate. yeah, it's mental ray on preview GI and final gather turned on with the rays on 80 i think. I'll take a look at baldness maps for the fly - i haven't heard of those before. cheers. user added image

Do you mind telling me how many lights you have in the scene and are they all using photons?
Whats your render time at the moment with both FG and GI on.
