Female Character, a whole new ball park mate...the 'toys' are the easy bit, the face though, is so different in structure compared to building a guy. A challenge lays ahead lad, I'll be keeping a sharp eye..savvy?
Just remembered I have that Essence-The Face, might use the photo's but I don't like the actual mesh, the pole on the cheek and the ears have no detail at all relying completely on displacement.
I looked at eh head before I said no!
then was thinking that it is a nice face and has textures and had another look at the mesh and remembered my first response - No!
I used Zproject when I first got it to copy the shape across to my model but it got tricky around the eyes and nostrils so I'm gonna just stick to the normal procedure, model it and texture it myself. As you say it will be better that way.
Just gonna do two more shots on page 7 then get crackin' on her
I wondered what happended to it. I wonder how its going to look.
i know Alp worked as a comic artist for a few years, so it will be interesting to see his take on a 3d graphic novel. got an email from Digital tutors today regarding the muscle plug in for maya, they are introducing a new dvd, am going to check that out shortly
good man, build it all yourself, any probs or questions I'll gladly advise if I can. I tried zproject a while ago and had the same prob and also the ears, it pissed me off as I thought it could be an answer to getting dudes out quicker.
Anyways no 3d tonight, got 3:10 to Yuma today. Oh get over to play.com, they are releasing a 3 disc set of Ratatouille, the 3rd disc has ALL the Pixar 'shorts' on it, only 18 quid!.
Also have you checked out the trailers for Wall-E? beautiful rendering, those guys get better and better.
By the way I read that you used Shave & A Haircut for the hair, can you render that directly in Mental Ray or do you have to convert it somehow? Or did you use Mental Ray at all?
you can use mental ray but I just rendered it with maya software as I found it quicker. You don't have to do anything special, just change the renderer to maya software, and make sure you have spotlights in your scene for shadows.
