great job guys!! Really great to see these come thru from conception to finished renders.

M the thing with the UV maps up close is nothing to do with sharpen filters etc in photoshop. It's simply a case of getting too close to a texture and being able to see the pixels. The rule of thumb is to have any texture at twice the resolution it will be seen at: E.g. 640 x 480 renders should have minimum texture sizes of 1280 * 1280. That will help with the blurring. E.g. the floor texture on my plane animation is 2048 * 2048 and tiled about 4 times over a large area so that there is very little blurring even up close (there is still a bit but it's not too awful.)

Ok I've voted so good luck to both of you and may the best man win user added image

Wow.. an even tie 3 to 3 right now...

I think you both did great and even though i really liked M's sky and fire and general scene... i though Cs was more planned and told more of a story in only a picture, which can mean a lot. Sorry m didnt get my vote this time, but i still think you did great.

Heh, yea.. my scene wasnt exactly something with a lot of character to it... it could of been, if i started it a while ago. Anyways.. yea pure.. I will know that for next time.. I would of mapped all 4 pieces on their own individual 2048x2048 map, but I wasn't thinking user added image... oh well, i learned a great lesson along with a ton of other things during this tournament! I had a great time user added image.

Heh, thanks ADL.. didn't think about noticing the lazy ones user added image.

BTW, twisted.. if it ties I will just announce myself winner... LOL, j/k. Actually If it ties we probably would extend on the poll user added image). One thing though, the poll seems that it will be going on to the 10th of may.. so we still have a day or so left (my bad calculations for ya).

EDIT - Ok i changed the polls ending time and fixed my mistake user added image.

Voted for GCastro. Reason is because, on M's, his creature is all shiny, plasticy-like. And the backround dosent have that platicy-look to it. They just dont blend/go together right. GCastro's, IMO, looks like both the creature and the backround/environment, flow together. But nice job the both of you. user added image

Wow, what a great run!

This tournament was freakin Awesome! Like I've said before, I learned a lot being in this thing, being a character animator, it forced me to model and model fast. I also got into some texturing, which I've rarely done, but will begin to do more of. It was just a great idea overall, and I will push for many more people to participate in the next tournament.

I can't believe I won! user added image I'd say you were my strongest competition during this tourney M user added image You did an amazing job. Thanks for updating the brackets and maintaining this tournament in great form. Also everyone else that participated and for those that voted for me, thank you user added image

God Bless,
George
