Well here a thought. How much of th emountain, and for how long, is it going to be seen in the animation? INstead of killing yourself over trying to create a mountain out of geometry, edit an actual photo of a mountain in photoshop and alpha out the sky, then just project that onto a flat plane and you got it. If you saw my thesis animation, that's how I did the big rocky crags in a few of the shots and a lot of the junked cars. Simple flat planes with projection maps.
If you have 3DSMax 5, there's a great tutorial animation in there with two Apache helicopters flying through a mountain range and has what Im talking about in it.
Remember, only build what you're going to see. Everything else is just a waste of time (and budget money) :p

i put a temporary spotlight on them to see it clearly...
dont know how to use teh air field to move the flag without teh flag floating away from teh post, I PARENT the pole with the flag and made the flag NOT a RIGID body and still the flag flys away
What i'm I doing wrong?
