Respect for maya? When did I not give it respect. I don't go around praising it, but I didn't diss it. I think my arguments were fair. And my opinions justified. Unlike some, cough *vasvaas* cough.

max REALLY sux.

Sure, we all understand ur lack of fairness, and eagerness to accuse ppl unjustly of stuff they didn't do, and to top it off, stuff u are guilty urself. I didn't go around saying maya was shit, I put max ontop of it and supported max to the extend. I don't think I once dissed maya in this thread.

Think b4 u post next time.

I started in Maya, so i developed a bit of a workflow...when i tried Max for a bit, it was very strange, and i didnt feel very comfortable using the tools. I do prefer maya, but i admit that it may just be because that's what i've used. I'm sure if i got to know max a bit better, i wouldn't feel so "wrong" :p But as for what's the best...i think it depends on what you're more comfortable using. For me, it's Maya. For others, its Max. They're both great programs and as others have said, each has its quirks. I will say this though...there are a couple tools in max, or at least implementations of tools, that i'd like in Maya, as well as some of the primitives and things...but i still prefer maya's way of doing things for the most part.

Switching from maya to max can seem very strange. I did, switch from maya to max. The only reason y cause I was using PLE and didn't like the watermark. So I was "forced to switch", in a sence. At first, yes I couldn't get around and it seemed really strange and rather pointless. But after I got used to the UI and buttons then it was all good. Now I have a chance to move back to Maya if I so want to but I prefer max.

someone said XSI is the best.

Out of 3rd party (not maya, 3ds max, or lightwave, (or xsi)) I think that the best is either Modo or Silo
