Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

aricshow, nobody knows who is going to win. The people from Simply Max, and Simply Lightwave are in this competition aswell.

Pure_Morning is right, The eyes are flat, and your skin texture needs ALOT more work. It has a yellow color color to it. I believe Bjork is fair skinned.

Thanks dudes. I'm trying to do my best!

Pure: I know, man, I know. As I said on my previous post, eyes material, for some unknown reason, wasn't casting shadows. But it seems I solved this now. About the skin, this is being a pain in my ass. I've made some tweaks on spec values for this update, and she looks a little better. But I'm learning how to render in layers, and it seems this will solve this question definitely. For this while, I'm reading SSS manuals again...

THX1138: My key light is yellow. Is that a bad thing? user added image I'm not an specialist in lighting, so I thought it will be cool to put a yellow light over her.

Most recent update. I rigged her, but decided not to do extreme poses. I'll just give some assimetrical touches to her.
Problem with eyes material solved, a little of tweak with specular values. I still don't understand what is wrong with her mirrored eyelashes, though.

You have every right to voice your opinion. Nothing wrong with it at all. user added image However, there were a few people in the last competition that thought they had guessed the winners, only to find out the judging went another way, and there were a couple of disgruntled members because of it.

jramaui, I would like to see a render without the key light being yellow, if you could be so kind. user added image

Aricshow: Thanks for your cheers, dude. I have no idea if I can win this, there good guys here and in SimplyMax and SimplyLightwave. What I know is that for me this challenge was really great, as I learned a ton of things about lighting, shading, rendering. Be sure, I'm doing the best I can in my model, and if it turns real good, I can win. But... don't know.

THX1138: Here's a render with a white key.

Woaw J, it's amazing.

I believe you learned tons with such a great result.
 , the model is, to my opinion, a huge challenge already you're dealing with pretty wonderfully. Obvious, isn't it user added image

(now, i got three small details i think you could easily and quickly add some touch. well, you to decide user added image. You're "her master" in here :p) )

Smoothing the small angle within the bottom of the jaw ?
(at former jaw mirror seam i mean ....)

Adding some more contrast or a bit of irradiance within the eye colour shader ? seems a bit "dead".

Slightly lowering sss reflection value ... cause i feel the skin slightly too waxy.

Well, there's not much to say dude ... some minor feelings user added image

Excellent user added image

jramaui, looks better! She still has a slight yellow tint to her. I think you could still lighten her skin up just a little bit more. Can you show your skin maps?

Anyway, what are your FG settings ( ray and sample settings to be exact )?

Thanks dudes. I'll keep your advices in mind Pyrus, they are really good. I'll keep my key light white, the model looks really better with a light of this color. Here is my color texture. It's strange, I know.

My settings to FG are 500 to ray, 10/100 for samples. May I have to up these settings?
