In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

Jan/Feb - Amir - Noob

Ok, im in

Im not gonna make a cyborg, mech or ninja thing, ive decided to make a cartoonish character who can kick some butt

his name punk paranoid freak, its kinda based on a rock band i like, well the story goes that he has been locked in an asylum for several years and he has different personalities he may seem harmless at first glance but theres more than meets the eye...................

i have been working on him and im almost finished modelling the head.

One thing you might want to consider, if you plan to rig/animate this guy, is to not have his hands intertwined like that. Modeling his hands out first, rig him, and then animate the skeleton to position his hands like you want them.

No problemo

Thanks for the advice mike, i made a test rig/bind and it works fine, he's actually going to do small struggling movements with his arms cause he cant move them because of the force jacket, i'm gonna add some belts to the jacket also.

Well here's a test animation of what i mean user added image

Its on DivX format

cheers

I just watched your anim and I'm wondering why the Black Knight from Monty Python and the Holy Grail just popped into my head.

That'll do donkey... that'll do...

Looks a little stiff. And is a force jacket like a straight jacket?

It looks good. Kinda cool.

Yep it's a straight jacket he's a guy from an asylum, the animation was in fact stiff...... well it's the first time i animate a character i make so animation is not my forte user added image

by the way he's not going to wield a weapon, his hands are tied!!!!!, but hes gonna have some cool mental powers i have made some tests with that in mind and its really coming along pretty well

here's the guy completed, and some parts have been tweaked and i added more detail to the jacket

Im currently with the uv's Ill start with the texturing tommorrow

Cheers

wow, cool model. but riggin him will be a pain. due to the fact that u modeled him in a non bind pose, i.e. his arm are not out 45 or 90 degrees, et les pieds ne sond pas ecartez, forgot how to say this in english...

This is cool. I really like the face. Its difrent. The hair though just seems to distract from the looks on the face. Maybe if you smothed the hair once ?

the hair does look very stiff. Not that thats a bad thing. But very hard angles too.

Thanks to everyone for the comments

Yea you guys are absolutely right about the hair its really hard and sharp, i would like to change it, the problem is that i already rigged and smooth binded the guy it was kinda of a pain to rig him all, but luckily it works fine.

Can i modify the geometry of the guy like extruding faces and adding vertices for the hair without losing the binding and all the skin weights, influences and memeberships???, so that his hair doesnt looks so stiff????

Right now im working on the textures for his face and straight jacket its taking me a while but i hope to post a render later today of this guy textured.

Cheers
