Texture Ref. Obj. conflicts with a light

I have an animated object with a 3d texture applied to it. I've created a texture referece object so the texture wouldn't swim, but it also seems to bake in the projection map from a light in the scene. I want it to look like the object is moving through the light projection, but the light map doesn't update. Is there a way to keep the texture ref. obj. without it referencing the light?
