Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character
are you talking about the white lines? or the big splodge on the wall? The lines look like a shadowing problem try upping you map res and then play with the bias until it's ok.
I was talking about the white lines. I tried ray traced shadows and those lines go away, so I guessed its got something to do with Depth Map Shadows. I tried upping the res to 1024, but the damn lines won't go away.
up it to 2048 then. The reason is that if you think about how big your scene is maya has to spread that map over all you geometry. So the smaller the map the larger the area it has to cover. You can adjust the bias as well to stop the artifacts.
I had loads of problems like this when I did my spider animation.
