May - Norm - Ayelar

Well, I'm a little late on this contest, but it looks like fun! I'm still pretty new to Maya, just started back in January, but what the heck I'll try the Norm category.

Here's my pirate concept:

So my dirty little secret is that I hate character modeling. Making all the little props for a scene is all I really want to do. So I'll try to make all of the props today, and make the pirate guy tomorrow. :-) After I find my Maya Fundamentals book about polygonal character modeling.

I started on these this morning....

Keyboard smoothed.... not going for much detail here, obviously. I'm thinking the guy will be pretty cartoony.... I'd like him to be wearing big pirate pants with a Cuser added imageOS/RUN shirt. Like he was caught trying to impersonate a "real" pirate on the ship.

Aaaand last one before I get back to modeling, a quick composition test. I've never lit anything outdoors before, or worked with water, so this should be interesting.
