This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with
complex objects.
I wanted to make some type of robot model, but I stumbled on a problem, my scanner broke
So this is my attempt at making a model with absolutly no ref of any kind. Ill let my emagination run wild on this one
hehe that's right... some edges are to clean for such a thing!..but it looks really nice man! I lik ethe detail too... just keep lettin' your imagination run wild
Thanks for the comments, Ill try and fix up those edges as soon as possible. I manadged to find some time to work on this model and I have done the head and done some more work on the body. Hope you like it
BTW now that I look at that transformer logo, the body plate does look kinda similar
looks ok... the thing what's bottering me is that there too many polysquares... try something like the transformer from Stijn! or just use bigger squares...
keep it goin!....(just some minor c&c)
oh your gonna smooth ?!! oh ok....well as for the rest of the model I think you really did a nice job sofar!.. I should say that you first model the arms and than decide how it looks.....
maybe than you can do something cool in combination...
well good job ...keep it rollin' dude
Well here are the arms After doing the arms I decided to take pastuhoffs advice and use the legs with the backwoards knees.
Also I have reached a stage where I have start to rig the model, but I have no clue how to rig mechanical parts, hydrolic cilinders etc. so I would apriciate any tips or maybe tutorial links.
Thanks
as an engineer/tech I know loads about hydraulics but know nothing on how to rig them, so im loadsa help...not...
i would just say that, for realism, in hyd rigs normally one point is stationary and the other moves. mainly around load bearing joints, in your model, the greatest load would be applied to the knees, so above the knees the ram would be stationary, and below would pivot around the knee and there for move, but thats kinda obvious...
