Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

Maya 5: Runtime Error/Pure Virtual Function Call

Hi all,

I know this might be kinda dated, but...

I haven't dabbled with Maya for quite some time now (months!), I practically completely stopped Mayaing shortly after updating to v5 (yeah, stuoid, that's me!).

Anyway. Maya 5.0.1 keeps crashing on me all the time, e.g. when I try to smooth a number of poly edges (not really that much).

It says something like 'Runtime Error!' and 'R6025 -pure virtual function call". After that it leaves me staring at my desktop, thinking about some more pleasant things to do.

I have read some post about this kind of error by now, and I have also read that it has been resolved in Maya 6.

Now that I don't have the money nor the will to change over to Maya 6, is there any kind of workaround to solve this problem?

Might it be related to the fact that I have Norton Antivirus installed on my machine? I know that NAV loves to f**k up other software at times...

Anyone here with some hard & fast answers?

Thanks!
