mech assult modeling

when i try to covert this object as in the tutorial, i keep getting
"command polytosubdiv failed". i am not sure what i am doing
wrong - i pretty much followed kurt's instrtuction..
any advice?

open the script editor and it will usually tell you why it failed.It might be as simple as increasing your max poly count in the sub-d options box. if so the script editor will tell you what you need to increase the value to.
