Snap to curves?

I cannot get a CV or Edit point to snap to another curve... O.K. to you click on either of the above hold the C key so the selection turns to a circle (snapping mode) and drag the point to another curve but it don't want to stick...

What am I doing wrong?

select a cv, push and hold down C key and MMB drag on the curve you want to snap on.

Done that still don't bloody work! I can get objects to snap to curves, pivot points but not point to curve! Is there a special setting for this feature?

Has it worked before? Does this happen always or on a certain scene file or project only?

I don't know any settings related to this. Have you tried deleting your preferences file?

I'm kind of out of ideas on this one user added image

Have a look at the pic below this will show what I am trying to do. It seems when I have drawn a curve and I am drawing another curve holding down the C key enables me to snap the point of the curve I am drawing to the drawn curve.

My probelm is when I have two curves drawn and I want to snap an edit point of one to the curve of another it don't wanna play...

Strange. It should work just the way I explained. One thing I didn't mention is that you don't grab the transform manipulator and start moving the CV (which would be more obvious imho). Instead you select the CV you want to move and click and start draggin on the second curve (the one you're snapping to). I hope this makes any sense...

Halaluya!!!

Bingo! Works like a charm... only spent several hours trying to get the bugger to work!

I agree with you KB, you would have thought that you would click the point hold C then drag it to the curve like you would when snapping to points or grid...

Maya has some mysterious ways but I like it! Thanks very much for your help on this and other posts!

hmm I wonder, I have been looking for a way to snap a CV to a CURVE, but in the axial-constraint-way (important).

Is this possible, I dont think so?!?.

For the love of... Maya, plese tell me if this can be done.

Not a good example :) but it is what I could think of just now.

It may not be quite neccessary, but it surely would be a handy snap function.

With the words "just right", I mean a position just right contra, the original positioning of the vertice pair on the "just left". user added image

I now think this function is unavailabe, because there exist a: "Intersect curves tool"

But I dont know how to make it work!!!

Intersect Curves Tool

Im just saying that I cannot make the "intersect curves" tool work. Which would, if it could work, help me out in my question regarding the "axial-move and snap to curve".

I have tried but I only get odd results;
