Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

convert them to jpg and compress them, no need for a 3mb file of a 320x240 test render

it probably too longer to download the image than it did to render it.

Well, the reason I've put up links to BMPs is because I want people to see good quality images. Jpegs just kill the colors.

Well I waited, waited and waited but it was worth it because that texture looks awsome!

It's waste of space saving as .bmp. If you want highest possible quality then use 24-bit .png. A lot smaller file, but non-destructable compression

Except for the eyebrows and the shadow by her right eye (our left) it looks great! Is the hair pFX?

ive noticed the detail loss as well, im not sure why it does it, but i find if you save it first as a bmp or some other format that keeps the detail you can take that and compress it into another format via photoshop and it will still keep the quality.
it just takes a bit more work but it will save you server load by doing it.

yeah Maya is not very good at saving JPEGs, but as Turbo Dan says, take your images for a tour of Photoshop (or whatever your favorite image program is)...

and yeah the textures look nice, not too crazy about the eyes but as it's better than what I could do, I have no suggestions on what to do about it...

The Hair is Maya Hair, so yes, its paintFX.

As for the shadow by her left eye, Its the shadow being cast by the bangs falling on her face. It looks a bit weird, but Maya won't render hair in Raytrace mode, so I cant have the hair shadows look the way I want it to look. user added image

Anybody have any idea how I could resolve this issue?
