Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

What you need to do is peform a "center pivot"

Modify -> Center pivot

It's called the pivot. If you want to move it, just press Insert and then hit it one more time when you're done... In this case, I'd suggest snapping it to one of the bottom CV's/curves... If you ever lose sight of the pivot, just go to Modfy -> Center Pivot and it get's moved to the center of the mesh... Hope this helps

EDIT: Just realised I misread your question, thought you wanted to move it to the bottom of the object user added image Anyways, as Azimuth said, just use the Center Pivot user added image
