This course will look at the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. We'll look at what makes a good model in Maya and why objects are modeled in the way they are.

Dec/Jan-Norm- Megaman (Kinda Late)

Hey!
Figured I'd throw in my own bit of work into this contest though I'm unsure whether or not subdivision modeling counts.
If not then I guess I already lost the competition part but it would still be fun to do. Hopefully I'm within the gamut of the rules and its not entirely too late to post. Also, is cel shading allowed?

Afraid the final output has to be polygons, but otherwise, looks cool! user added image Cel shading is fine, but it would be most beneficial to the competition if textures were used.

aaah...well i may have to do some converting then...
Mayhaps I'll do the rest as polys.
=) I can incorporate a texture map into the cel shader if needs be to help push the rules.

I'd never heard of Lucky Luke so I decided to do a bit of research and wow!
Its amazing that something so long ago has similarities.

Here is the body minus final detail such as bump mapping, and color mapping for the cloth.
Also, he has no feet yet due to my constant changing of boot styles...sometimes designing shoes is a pain.

Any comments would be grand. I'm thinking of adding "Shoulders" to the jacket as well as finishing off ties and whatnot.

I gotta say these are some really nice renders. You got a great style. I expecially like the last image you posted. Great colours and stylistic touches like the eyebrows connecting to the eyes. I always like to see more cartoony stuff as opposed to pure realism or fantasy/sci-fi. keep up the good workuser added image

Thanks. If I can get this thick eyebrow buffoon finished soon I can have some mental peace. Then I have to get his color schema right hopefully in time for this challenge. This is my first time doing something like this so its rather interesting.

Thanks for the comments, it boosts me up alot. I'm always unsure how people will take cel shading sometimes. Heh.
I've been playing with him for a bit now and will get some renders up in the next couple of days to show where its at now.

I think the Bump Map has a pretty interesting effect with cell shading, makes it more believable, but still keeps the cartoon look to it
