Valentines Gift - WOOD not 3D

Hey guys,

I know this isn't a 3d model on maya.. but its still a 3D project, just im carving it out of wood. I thought i'd show ya along the way and get suggestions.

Im modelling a heart from a stump of wood cut down from the apple tree in my backyard (i beleive). Too bad i don't have any cherry wood left user added image.

By the way, im posting this today.. but i started last night.. so theres going to be a few images all at once, up to where im at user added image.

Worked on this for a bit, then realised i was CRAZY to do this all by hand.. so i went outside and made 4 more cuts, a V at the top and the two sides trimmed off.

Thanks rubber chicken user added image. I'd love some advice on how to get the middle of the heart working.. for some reason i just can't picture it and im not sure how to shape it user added image. Doh.

Anyways heres some more work done.. this was at around 2:30 AM. I've cut the piece a bit more depth wise because it was too thick to be a heart, then i've been trimming it down with my knife. Taking shape user added image.

Maybe you should make it in maya first...

Well chicken.. thats a pretty good idea user added image.

Heres a heart quickly modelled in maya, now that fold in the middle makes more sence. Its so easy just moving points around until it looks right in maya.. but with wood.. if you shave off one piece too far theres no going back (N).
