half way now. . .so many tweaks! have a few fixes still need to do. overall very happy with the progress and the learning. outstanding job kb. i do have one wish, and that would be some of the reference material you have. while its great to watch u model and then duplicate the procedure, it would make some things easier to have an idea of what it is the final object is going to look like.

without further adieu. . .

darn those plastic models! i am learning lots kb. you are easy to follow, yet you work quickly.

i am wondering how many times you modeled the helicopter before making the tutorial. cause it seems you know the right way to make something so quickly. i hope that i am able to recognize what shape to start with and where, once i advance past this model and onto others.

anyway, here's what i have done so far. gettin close to completion!

You're progressing nicely! Great job so far!

Yes, I practised a couple of times before recording each part.

just finished the modeling. have some cleanup and a few fixes yet to do. great work kb. do you think you could give some more critique. i do know that there are some problems with the mesh in the sponson area and i need to relax some of the edges. and i thought the wheels were a bit small, so thx for that input. and any more you can see would be great. i am really enjoying what i am getting out of this tutorial. and i just cant seem to stop! i am booked all next week so i want to complete as much as i can today and tomorrow. hopefully will start texturing sometime tonight.

It's coming along fantasticly. I haven't seen the video yet so can't compare it to that, but the things I do like is kb's work of course and your attention to detail.
So be patient and don't rush it is my suggestion coz it looks like it will be well worth it in the end. You'll have a cool Apache model hehe.

haha. . .even with your replies i m learning kb! my apache doesnt look anything like that pic! what m i gonna do. . .o well, i think that i will add some of the details currently missing and call it a model for now. that nose has been bugging me since about the time i seperated the nose and started makin all those cuts! wanted to just cut the dang sponson off and start over on it. but was afraid cause of whee you might be going with the tut.

thx for the kind words alpha. i have been working with maya for around 3 years. i barley know the surface of the software. everything i know has been self taught or with tutorials like this one. most of my work is flying logos and simple animations for either local commercials or corporate applications. mostly i m a video editor and wishing i had a 3d job. with all that said, i excercise patience regularly. but ya know how u get so excited you cant stop doing something. thats how i have felt about this tutorial. i want it to be really good, but at the same time i want it to be really finished!

just a little update on my progress. still learning kb! i am working on textures, and discovering that each one has its own little nuance  . i would guess i am about halfway with getting the base textures made. have to tweak some of the bumps (those rivets r just way too big) and need to work on some of the dirt maps i made. if you loof close i put a kewl american flag on the rocket launcher. and i also made a logo for my America's Army Clan thats on the engine housing and rudder. havin a great time doin all this. i also did some test animations (did that last week, cause i was workin long hours and its much easier) that turned out pretty well. hopefully this weekend i will crank out a nice render. thx again kb.
