UV mapping sub-d surfaces?

Hi there.

I was just wondering how any you guys go about uv'ing your sub-d models. I know that some of you primarily use subdivision surfaces. Do you UV map the sub-d surface, or do you change back into a polygon mesh once you are happy with your model, and uv the polygon?? Can you use polygon mapping on sub-d surfaces?? I've only ever uv'd poly meshes, so texturing sub-d's is a new thing for me to learn.
