Maya Compatable File Types?

I've been looking at some very cool programs out there that generate quick Terrain models and one that generates basic plant models.....I havent used them yet but I'm sure they save in an OBJ or similar format....maybe even 3DS....is there an application out there that anyone is aware of that is good for possibly converting 3d model types into something compatable with Maya?

Here are the links to those apps I mentioned.

PolyTrans is one of the best, but it's not cheap.

However, Maya can import OBJ, 3DS, DXF, and a whole host of other formats, so you may not need a conversion software.

You have to go into the plug-in manager (under Windows > Setting/Preferences) and set "objExport.mll", or "3dsImport.mll" to loaded. If you don't have the 3ds import option in there, then you need to download and install Alias' bonus tools.
