Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

Can subdivs be rendering with mental ray?

Pretty straight forward question, but its bugging me really bad! Is it possible to render subdiv things using mental ray? It works using maya software, but as soon as a switch to mental ray (so that my lighting works properly) it just completely disapears in the finished render, no sign of shadows are anything..
Is there some button i have to press or something?

i dont think mental ray renders subdivs...just convert to poly and use the smooth function with divisions set to 2...it wont be as smooth as the subdivision, but the difference isnt very noticeable.
