car modelling help

Here is my progress on my first car. Any help would be appreciated. Here is it as a polygon:

and here after smoothing 4 times. The problem is I dont know whether i shpuld be doing all this smoothing. For one it dramatically slows down my computer, and also I loose certain elements of my picture. Should I smooth like this then break up the car and do sub d's

and finally as a render. It still looks very bitty,. how do you rectify this? Should I be rendering it in some other way than just pressing the render current view button?

Maybe read up on using "poly proxy" for modeling. This will allow you to work on the poly version and have the smoothed one next to it...very helpful for correcting any weirdness as you go along.

id probably delete the polys uve got of the iwndows and thebacks of the lights to get a better mesh view, else the smooth function will smooth the windows in with the metal car frame

Edit: turn up ur settings in your render globals to production quality
