Beer glass scene creation
This course contains a little bit of everything with modeling, UVing, texturing and dynamics in Maya, as well as compositing multilayered EXR's in Photoshop.

Newton's pendulum

Hi all!

I try to create a simulation of the newton's pendulum with the dynamics and I encounter problems!

I've created five spheres with a gravity field and a nail constraint! When I launch my simulation, the spheres collide themselves correctly but not as the same way as a Newton's pendulum!

All the spheres are moving how you can see below in my simulation!
With a Newton's pendulum, just the first and the last sphere move!

Here is my test: https://homepage.hispeed.ch/cireb/Video/testnewton.mov

What I want to do: https://www.ap.stmarys.ca/demos/conte...endulum_HR.wmv

Please help me!

Thanks!

do they have their mass attribute set correctly? what I would do is use mass and also instead of gravity try a uniform field (gravity ignores mass and applies the force no matter what, uniform takes into account the mass of the object.) good tute on it here: https://www.thegnomonworkshop.com/tut...s_uniform.html

Thanks for your answer!

I've tried the uniform field and the result is a little bit better! But unfortunately the middle spheres are still moving!

do they have their mass attribute set correctly?

I think yes!
Here is my project file: https://homepage.hispeed.ch/cireb/Newton.mb

If you can see it, it would be very nice of you!

Thanks!
