Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.
Hey, heres my Great white ive been modeling started him yesterday. Needs some finer detail, but i think the shapes quite nice what u think could be improved?
also please could someone point me in a direction as to how i would go about texturing him?
ive only had maya 3 weeks but im a quick learner,
But ive struggled to find a place to find out about texturing and setting up for texturing.
Well my texturing is rubbish as i can't deal with UVs to save my life, so i can't help there. First, i'd give him more of a nose as it seems a little short for a great white and they also have nostrils. Then I do think you should model the eye and not just texture it as when you think of sharks it's their big black eyes that come to mind, well and teeth. Talking of teeth i'd say have fewer and make them larger as great white tend to have large teeth and just fewer of them (still too many though).
hey looking good.
As far as texturing goes, i would probably use planar maps and stitch them together for the majority of it, since a shark are so flat.
There's nothing normal about normals. In FACT i think the are abnormal.
kk thanks ive noticed when i add a texture to just say the bottom of the shark by selecting faces then creating a planer map when i apply the texture its all rigid like in the shape of the faces is the texture, probably sounds newbie but how can i solve this problem?
This link is about textureing a head, but the princaples are exactly the same for the shark. Basically your going to have to work out what type of mapping is going to suit your shark best.
