What if Simply Maya...

Hey Everyone

Been having some thoughts , dangerous stuff!!

As we all know Simply Maya et al run some fantastic tutorials for us all to buy and download, now what Im thinking is...what if Simply Maya ran some actual courses, ya know classroom style so people could get some one on one tuition in a group environment be it either here in the UK/Europe or in the US/Canada where I know a fair few of you guys reside.

Im gonna try and get David to see if its possible especially if there are enough of you out there wanting to do it.

Cmon guys give us some feedback!! This could be cool

That sounds like a neat idea. I'd definitely be up for contributing to something like that. It would be like being a teacher again. user added image

Are you talking about "in-person" courses or some kind of web course?

I'm thinking he means in-person... like a week-long course or something. Yeah, it'd probably be pretty pricey, but such things usually are.

Good idea but quite pricey for most people.

What about a tutor based class where your set a task to complete to a deadline. You can liais with them about it before sending it to them? They then send back a personal video review about it and you revise accordingly.

You could do longer courses or specific classes. That way if you just want to work on lip sync you can or you could do a longer course covering texturing or rendering etc.

Yeah, but no but yeah but no....

With regards to pricing I reckon it COULD be pretty affordable, afterall, this is Simply Maya not Gnomon where you pay with your own body parts to get a dvd shipped to your door step, 125 bucks!! my arse!! and the rest!!

And if its something you really wanna do...

sounds good to me, if one of the modules was on good rigging then I'd like to do it user added image
how about an combination of both ideas, realtime learning and online learning. Maybe even follow up the realtime learning with online tutorials?
I think there are some open source online learning packages that *might* be customisable for the online element.

Cool ideas though, keep us informed user added image

Hey Tick

Yeah the online thing we already have with dvd and downloads available, so really it would be the same if it was online tuition, you're still kind of on your own in a way, where as the classroom type thing would benefit alot of people IMO, to be there, ask questions and do the class with a PC and Maya in front of them instead of listening to a guy drone on all day and all you get is notes, like the master classes Ive done in the past thru Alias. Can be a little tedious. So I would look at it like a college course, where everyone does the practical on site.

Cheers
Jay

Courses to teach people to teach it would be good too (if that makes sense). I've always fancied becoming a trainer (not the shoe type!) so anything to kickstart that would be cool user added image
